My Dearest Family,
Oh my goodness! This is so much fun and a billion times more
amazing than I could have ever imagined! I hope you guys are doing as well as
I am. I have been going nonstop since I left you at the curb. I ran around to
get all my information and had a small tour. Then we went directly to class. I
was in the classroom within 15 min of my getting here. My teachers are Sister
McGill and Brother Lyons. They are both amazing, super knowledgeable and really
cool. We were in class for about an hour or two and then we went to a welcome
fireside. The MTC presidency and all their wives spoke to us. They gave some
really great advice.
After
that, we went to dinner. Now make sure and tell Hillary this next part. There
is a special little room for people with allergies. My companion, sister
Baldwin is Celiac and so she gets her food from there and I get my food from
the normal line and everyone is happy! Dinner was delicious. They had pineapple
and yummy grapes! Plus Jello! Yay Utah!!! After dinner we had our first teaching
experience. It was about 40-50 of us missionaries talking to one investigator.
We did this with 3 different people. They were actors but they were incredible.
I learned so much and made notes about it all. After we finished our teaching
experiences, we went back to our classroom (our home, we only sleep in our
residence rooms, everything else is in the classroom) and met our Zone Leaders.
We’ll meet our DL’s tomorrow so yes Dad, there are both. Our ZL’s rock and they
have only been here a week! They’re awesome. Sister Maetoga is our coordinating
sister. She’s also only been here a week but she’s basically our mom. She will
answer all our questions, help us around and she’s there to help us with
everything. She reminds me so much of Sarah. It’s crazy.
So now
we’re back in our rooms. I’ve unpacked everything and I’m about to read your
letters. Merida is keeping me company.
Sister
Baldwin is my companion. The spirit really does play a part in picking our
companion because she is perfect for me. She’s kind, loving, a little
introverted, has a big family and we just clicked! I love her so much. She’s
19, she’ll turn 20 in May and she is a spiritual giant. She’s also going to
Kentucky so maybe we’ll get to be companions again. I really hope so!
It looks like these next 11 days are going to be packed.
It’s going to be a giant roller coaster but it’s going to be the adventure of a
lifetime.
By the
way, tell Keilee and Hillary that I met Whitney Porter here! She is Spanish
speaking going to Oklahoma. It was great to see her smiling face again. Hermana
Porter.
So real
quick, I should apologize. I lied. I’m so so so sorry. So my mailbox is #134.
So sorry! Could you put that on fb Brit?
It’s looking like I only have 1
P-day and that is Friday, the 15th. I don’t know if I’ll have access
to computers before then. I’ll find out…
I think
that is everything for now. Oh! My estimated departure date is March 18th.
So… ya…
:p
I love
you all so so so much! I miss you even more! But I don’t
regret anything at all. This is exactly where I am supposed to be and the
spirit is incredible! It is literally here 24/7. I’ve never felt anything like
it. Brit, you have to do this. I wish you were here with me so badly. Anyway,
don’t cry! I’m having the time of my life! Make good choices!
Love/Sister
Thorne
P.S. I just checked with Sister Maetoga and she said that
yes, I will only get to email you guys once. So she said the best route is to,
after you get my email, write me on Dearelder.com ASAP and then I’ll actually
get it before I leave. That way I at least get something. So use that. Love
y’all!
